Lung Cancer Awareness Month

November is Lung Cancer Awareness month! Please join us as we spread awareness of "the most common worldwide cause of cancer death for the last decade". Although smoking is a top risk factor there are many other contributors. Lung cancer is a devastating disease and awareness and recognition of the risk factors may save you or a loved one! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your healthcare provider.

Mammograms & Manicures

Partnering again with Caromont Health and their Mobile Mammography bus, the "Mammograms & Manicures" event was held October 14th, and we were fortunate to have a great turnout! Different from last year, we added a fun twist with the manicures, provided by the Cosmetology School at Gaston College, led by Sandi Sinclair. In addition, we were treated to awesome classical and jazz music by an amazingly talented group of students who have a philanthropic group called "Melodic Minors.” Everyone should definitely look them up on Facebook! All in all, it was a successful event, and we look forward to having one next year. A special thanks to our Managing Partner, Jeff Viner and his wife Linda who have a heart for our community and health issues!

Employee Spotlight

This month, our Employee Spotlight is on the leader of our service department, Ben Cooper. Ben has been a part of our team since 2014, starting out as Service Manager and then recently promoted to Service Director. He brings a calm, focused and steady leadership which is the hallmark to a successful team of service advisors and technicians. His relationship with our customers is easy, genuine and grounded in our culture of excellence.

Ben is originally from Poughkeepsie NY, but he settled in Charlotte when he was 12 years old. While attending UNCG, he met his wife of 17 years and they have 2 children -- a daughter, age 13 and a son, age 11. Ben started in the car business in 1996 after graduating college and has worked in the parts department, has been a Service Advisor, Service Manager and now is our Service Director. He has worked for Nissan for 16 years!

In his spare time, Ben is an avid Carolina Panthers fan and has not missed a game, either in person or on TV since their inception in 1995! He also enjoys off-roading on ATVs, outdoor family activities and a general love of all things cars. His music knowledge is pretty strong as well!

Turkey, Kale and Brown Rice Soup

A true fall favorite! This Turkey, Kale and Brown Rice Soup meets all the requirements of our test kitchen: Simple, Healthy and Delicious. While this recipe is perfect as is, you can always switch things up. Not a fan of kale? Add spinach. If you don’t feel like rice, add quinoa. If you don’t want any grains add more vegetables. And, as always, season to taste. If you love garlic--go for it! Not a fan of parmesan? Switch it up! One thing great about soups is you can make any adjustments you need.
